Advanced Medical Imaging Center - CIMA
When a doctor requests an imaging study, they typically seek to confirm a diagnosis, rule out relevant findings, or follow up on a treatment. Choosing a center with advanced technology, clear protocols, and an experienced team can make a significant difference in both the quality of the study and the patient experience.
Advanced Medical Imaging Center
At The Panama Clinic, through CIMA (Advanced Medical Imaging Center), we offer radiology and imaging services for both hospitalized and outpatient patients, with state-of-the-art technology and the attention of technologists, nurses, and radiologists. We provide diagnostic modalities such as PET/CT, 3 TESLA magnetic resonance imaging, digital conventional radiology, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, Doppler, mammography, and interventional radiology procedures.
If you have a medical order or need guidance in scheduling your study, our team can help you review the indication, answer questions, and coordinate your appointment.
Radiology and diagnostic imaging services and technology at The Panama Clinic
PET/CT
Our PET/CT technology integrates 128-slice computed tomography and PET with digital detectors. This allows for faster speeds, reduced study times, and up to a 50% reduction in radiation dose for the patient. Both systems can operate separately or together to generate overlapping images with better resolution.
PET/CT can be useful in specific indications where it is necessary to combine anatomical and metabolic information, always according to clinical judgment and medical order.
Conventional radiology and digital X-rays
We perform conventional radiology with direct digital technology, a useful modality for various diagnostic evaluation studies. Digital radiography allows for efficient image acquisition and supports the preparation of medical reports.
Computed tomography
Computed tomography allows for the acquisition of images in cross-sections with high detail for different regions of the body. At The Panama Clinic, we have 128-slice technology, which enhances quality studies with optimized times and dose reduction protocols when applied.
3 TESLA magnetic resonance imaging
We have a magnetic resonance imaging team with 3 TESLA technology, allowing us to obtain high-resolution images of the entire body. This modality is especially useful in studies requiring great anatomical detail and advanced protocols according to clinical indications.
Digital and portable ultrasound
We offer 3 state-of-the-art rooms and multiple transducers for general ultrasounds, Color Doppler USG, and full body studies. We conduct general, vascular, musculoskeletal, and gynecological-obstetric studies.
We also have portable ultrasound for patients who are remote from the Imaging Center, such as in the operating room, hospital rooms, and neonatal units.
Doppler for vascular studies
Doppler is a special ultrasound technique that evaluates the movement of materials within the body and allows the physician to see and assess blood circulation through arteries and veins.
Mammography and tomosynthesis
Our mammography system features advanced two-plane mammography acquisition and volume tomography, also known as volumetric mammography. This technology allows for a more comprehensive breast evaluation in indicated cases.
Additionally, it is ideal for minimally invasive procedures such as stereotactic biopsy, puncture, and localization with wires for small breast lesions.
Digital subtraction fluoroscopy
Digital fluoroscopy with subtraction allows for the real-time acquisition of images from special studies. It is used in evaluations of the digestive tract, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine, as well as in studies of the uterus and bladder with contrast medium.
Remote technology helps to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation.
Interventional radiology
At The Panama Clinic, we also perform interventional radiology, including procedures such as angiography, embolization, blocks, and treatments for aneurysms. This area complements diagnostic offerings with image-guided procedures in selected cases and according to medical indication.
When can an imaging study be useful?
Radiology and imaging studies can support clinical evaluation in multiple scenarios, for example:
- Persistent pain in the back, neck, joints, or limbs
- Sports injuries or traumas
- Respiratory symptoms requiring imaging evaluation
- Abdominal pain, digestive or urinary alterations
- Breast findings requiring complementary study
- Follow-up of treatments or monitoring of pre-existing conditions
- Vascular assessment through Doppler studies
The choice of study depends on clinical evaluation and the medical order. Therefore, the appropriate exam should always be defined according to each patient’s needs.
Care for outpatient and hospitalized patients
At CIMA, we serve both outpatient and hospitalized patients. Our service is organized to meet the needs of both profiles, with separate areas for the care of hospitalized patients and for urgent outpatient care.
This allows for more organized attention aligned with the clinical needs of each case.
